This article guides you through the input steps for dimensioning a punctual expansion joint.
Procedure
Enter the parameters of the installation situation:
- First select a connection situation from the drop-down menu.
- If you require a fire protection for the dowels, activate the "Fire protection" slider
- In the next step, enter your planned and maximum joint width.
Hint: Instructions for calculating the maximum joint width can be found on our Website www.schoeck.com - Download - Technical Information - Schöck Stacon® - In the following fields, you then define the product properties and the position of the sleeve (left or right component).
- At the bottom of this input mask you will find two tabs ("Left-hand structural component", "Right-hand structural component"). There you enter the following parameters individually for each component side, depending on the selected connection situation:
- Component dimensions (e.g. Downstand beam height/width, slab thickness, wall height/width)
- Concrete cover (top/bottom/side/front)
- Concrete strength class
- Reinforcing steel
Note:
During the first parameter changes, you can track the changes directly in the display window. If you have already performed a calculation, the changes will only be visible once you have pressed "Calculate" again.
On-site reinforcement:
The default setting here is "Determine automatically". It makes sense to leave this setting for the time being. This means that you will first receive a reinforcement proposal. You can always change these values later.
Manual changes can be customised for each panel side ("Left-hand structural component", "Right-hand structural component").
Enter loads:
You can now enter your determined design loads (VEd).
Product installation:
In the product installation area, it is possible to change the number of dowels. It is advisable to leave the automatic installation activated for an initial result. This makes it more likely to get a result. You can always adjust this entry later. You can also choose whether the dowels should be distributed over the entire height of the component or whether they should be positioned as close together as possible.
You can also change the product property to "Transversely movable dowels".
Start calculation:
Once you have adjusted all the parameters to suit your situation, start the calculation by clicking on "Calculate".
Result of the dimensioning:
In the "Result" tab, you can see which Schöck Stacon®-types are possible/not possible.
You can check your results in the "System display", "Detailed view", "Item list" and "Verifications" tabs.
If an error or warning is displayed, you can use the command line at the top right to see which verifications could not be performed or which parameters should be checked again.
Create log:
You can generate a printable report by clicking on "Export log".
If your calculations contains an error, the printout report will be labelled accordingly.
